Jairo Cruz - Choreographer and Dancer

Jairo was born in Holguín, Cuba. He is a graduate from Escuela Profesional de Danza de Santiago de Cuba José María Heredia Heredia as dancer and contemporary dance teacher. As a student he obtained two prices for Best Performance and one for Best Technique during the José María Heredia Dance Festival. 
 
In 2004 he danced with Codanza and in 2006 he was promoted as Principal Dancer. During the Culture Week Festival in Holguín, he won three times Best Male Performance of the City (2006, 2007 and 2008).
 
In 2009 Jairo danced with Compañía Aldo Siles Danza Contemporánea and in 2010 he won Best Male Dance in the regional dance contest in Hermosillo, Sonora. In 2014 he won Best Contemprorary Dance Choreography in the International Choreography Competition Burgos New York, celebrated in Burgos, Spain. In 2021 he won Best Male Dancer in the Premio Nacional de Danza Guillermo Arriaga in Mexico City.
 
He has collaborated as a dancer and choreographer with La lagrima Producciones, Grupo Dédalo, Andamios Teatro, Apoc Apoc and Compañía Tania Perez Salas. From 2016 to 2018 he danced with Centro de Producción de Danza Contemporánea (CEPRODAC). 
 
Since 2009 Jairo directs his own project 8 Segundos Danza. 
 
Jairo regularly collaborates with Laleget Danza as dancer and choreographer since 2016.
